i broke my finger 13 yrs ago.  x-rayed and had pt. knuckle had a tiny piece of bone chipped off. finger feels jammed and can't bend as far as others.

Be seen: Certainly if you had an injury 13 years ago and have had trouble with it since, it would seem unlikely it is going to get any better by simply giving it more time.  So, if it is causing you enough trouble to warrant it, I would not hesitate to be seen to discuss treatment options.

hi there, 7 weeks ago i had an injury on my ankle (torn ligament, piece of the bone chipped off) i am still unable to walk properly. i cannot walk up or down stairs without the aircast, is this normal?

A job for ortho: Ligaments connect bone to bone in joints and prevent the joints from bending in directions they shouldn't. For example, finger joints have ligaments on the sides so the joint can't bend sideways. Under stress a ligament will pull off the bone taking a small fragment with it seen on x-ray called an avulsion fracture. If it doesn't reattach in 6 weeks then the joint is unstable. See an orthopedist.

Rest: Torn ligaments and chipped bone usually takes a good 6-8 weeks of rest to calm down. Then physical therapy and perhaps an orthotic. If rest doesn't do it then surgery may be necessary to relieve symptoms. Go over your MRI with a foot and ankle surgeon for more specific treatment plan.

See answer : An orthopedic doctor would be the best type of doctor to see for proper diagnosis and treatment. Treatment depends on the exact nature of the injury; whether there is a fracture; and on the amount of pain, tenderness, swelling, and bruising present and may consist of rest, elevation, ice, and observation vs splint vs casting vs surgery in select cases.

No time for Gout.: Red swollen foot with a  lot of pain, especially after an injury, could be several things. My first thought is you are experiencing a gout attack. This is not that unusual for post menopausal women. I would expect that foot is also very warm and an off red color. There is a possibility of a phlebitis, however, not so common in the foot. To remove all doubt, see you doctor or go to immed. care.

Not without x rays: It may not make any difference in treatment of your codtion but without x rays it is not possible to say about fracture.
