do you get a cast for a bone that has chipped in your wrist?

Depends...: It depends on which bone is fractured and if there is any displacement or angulation. One bone is important (scaphoid) because of difficult healing with compromised blood supply.

MRI : Another X-ray couldn't hurt but there would be more information gained with an MRI. More information about ligaments and wrist instability will be obtained. X-rays will tell you about the bones for which you already have most of the information.

whats could be wrong with my wrist? i fractured (chipped) the bone by my wrist and i've been having problems with it since. i believe it has to do with it being out for two weeks after it happened. could i have done something to the tendons and ligaments

There : There are so many variables in this question that it is hard to be very precise.  There are many bones in the wrist, and it is very significant which bone, precisely is chipped.  When you say it was "out" for two weeks,  do you mean that it was dislocated for two weeks?   A bone chip on x-ray often means that a ligament was pulled off the bone, taking a piece of the bone with it.   It is a bad circumstance if the ligament has pulled off a bone chip and the x-ray shows it to be separated by a distance from the bone, because in this case the ligament/bone chip cannot ever heal back to the bone without surgery, and the associated joint is apt to be lax and pop, clunk, grind, or be painfully unstable.   This needs to be seen by an appropriate surgeon.   It sounds like something which, at the very least, needs initial splinting/casting for 6 weeks and then re-examination.   The probable need for future surgery is high.

had a ct scan on wrist showed no fracture. but could it miss a avalsion fracture. which is basically a chipped bone, what to do?

See hand specialist: Ct scan is very good at identifying certain fractures in the wrist, depending on how fine the cuts are. A small chipped bone is not of much concern unless it is associated with a ligament injury. A hand specialist is the best person to evaluate you for a ligament injury. Sometimes additional tests - MRI and/or arthrogram - are necessary, and some injuries benefit from early surgcial intervention.

Depends: It depends on the bone and location.  Usually a temporary cast or splint is used until you are seen by the specialist, who will decide whether you need a full cast, splint, or nothing and for how long.  It averages about 6 weeks for a bone to heal.

Many possibilities: Could be a cyst, such as a ganglion cyst, which are often asymptomatic.  Could also be a skin cyst such as a sebaceous cyst, but without looking at it it's hard to tell!

Could cause problem: If a bone fragment is within a joint it could cause a problem.  Have it evaluated and get the appropriate treatment.

Usually, yes - pain!: Broken bones (fractures) in the wrist usually also cause swelling, bruising, and you won't be able to move your wrist through its full range of motion. Sometimes grip strength is also limited. If you are concerned, you should see a doctor for a physical exam and an xray.

Hard to say: You can get a ganglion cyst that may form on the wrist and it can be painful. It is benign.
