40 weeks pregnant- toenails turns blue every morning when i sit or shower. thumbs turn blue when i shower. it do go away right after for the rest of the day. doctor told me its normal. my spo2 levels are 98%. should i worry? is this normal?

: Please see your OB and PCP, the blue color may indicate poor circulation locally, and there are several possible conditions. Elevate legs, rest and watch for shortness of breath, swelling and pain.

Get it looked @ ASAP: I take it you have had an injury, from your description you have either a large hematoma of the thumb or have lost the blood supplyeither way it needs attention.

Vein: Hand has a lot of superficial veins.  Sometimes they are traumatized by routine things we do.  This small vein can clot off and occasionally calcify.  They often occur in locations that sustain a lot of use or minor trauma.  Try padding the area with a bandaide.  If it continues to hurt, they sometimes need to be removed.

Raynauds: Cyanosis or blue discoloration of fingers is a vascular condition that is most common when digits are exposed to cold water or cold environment. Upon exposure,  usually, the fingers get pink-blue-then white. And when rewarmed, the color comes back from white-blue-pink.

i am pregnant and when i sit down my toes turn blue but when i get up and move around it goes away. also when i showered my thumbs turned blue. if you had cyanosis would the blue discolouration stay or only be there sometimes?

: A temporary discoloration of blue is not a major concern. However this is caused by a position of your baby or fetus on the blood vessels in your lower extremities. This is not uncommon to happen when walking and standing sometimes an orthotic is used to change the position of the fetus on the vessels in the lower extremities. Talk to you obstetrician concerning this.

Xray: Would begin with an xray to see if there is a fracture.  Go to an urgent care center or orthopaedic specialist to be evaluate.  Continue to ice and elevate.

Trauma?: Blue green coloration might suggest bruising. If one of the joints doesn't bend - would recommend medical evaluation. Take care.

Owwwww: I cannot tell for sure without seeing it  but if it is excessively painful, continuing to swell or obviously broken get it looked at right away.

Vein rupture : Did you hit your thumb or bump it, right before? 
Sometimes people can have a small venous malformation from birth. You will need to find a phlebologist who knows how to scan with ultrasound.  Have your primary care refer after exam. www.phlebology.org.

Get it checked...: Glomus tumor can because discoloration and sensitivity. It's usually very cold sensitive. Typically occur beneath the nail. X-rays can be helpful, but sometimes an MRI is necessary.
