Warm water: Warm water can cause skin blood vessels to dilate and bring more blood close to the skin surface in attempt to cool off.  Try using cooler shower water.

got out of the shower tonight and noticed a thin, blue line the size of my fingernail on my thigh. worked out a lot today-could it be strain or a stretch mark? im fairly light skinned so perhaps it could be that, too. or is it a circulation issue?

: Sounds to me like you were noticing a blood vessel that usually you don't see. The heat of the shower likely caused it to dilate to the point you noticed it. You might try sometime putting a heating pad on the area and see if you can reproduce the "line". If so, it's a pretty shut and dried case that it's a blood vessel. Nothing to worry about!

: Mottled skin, known as livedo reticularis, tends to be more common in infants and young or middle aged females, especially when exposed to cold temperatures. This is a benign condition &amp; is probably caused by spasm of tiny superficial skin blood vessels.

Caution: There are no good techniques for scratching because this would involve accessing an area which is not visible because it's under a cast or splint - and that is not recommended.  Showering can sometimes be done with a garbage bag or similar protection to keep the leg dry.  Ask whether you are appropriate to switch to a fracture boot, which would make it much easier to shower.

See a doctor: Although you feel fine, i highly recommend you see your physician.  You could have an internal injury.  The black/blue mark represents bleeding under the skin.  You should have the evaluated by a doctor to be sure there is not a serious injury.

i have stitches in my leg from a minor procedure. it's been about a week now, can i get the area wet in the shower and remove the plasters?

No: No, if you are in a plaster splint and dressing, I would not take this off with out first checking with your surgeon to make sure it is ok.

Please ask your doc: to take a look.  There are multiple bugs like ticks and spiders. You need to avoid Lyme Disease and other things.  Peace and good health.

today my wife was sitting on sofas edge and after some time she felt little pain so she saw black and blue area on her leg it was little paining it was looking like blood has collected in that area just like black and blue area appears after injury?

: It's uncommon to have ecchymosis (black and blue area on the skin) by sitting at the sofa edge. She can observe that lesion for now. If that occurs again anywhere else or if there is unusual bleeding while brushing her teeth, she should see a doctor right away to rule out coagulopathy.
