Post nasal drainage: occurs when there is excess mucous production that does not run out the nose. Common causes of post nasal drainage include: Cold, Flu,   Allergies, and Sinus infection or sinusitis. The bad taste is most likely due to infection. Try taking some over-the-counter medications, including an antihistamine and guafenesin.  If your symptoms get worse or don't improve in a week, get checked for infection

tonsillitis in october, no abscess & treated with penicillin v. ever since, time to time i can taste pus in throat along with thickened mucus at back of nose/throat. no pain only bad taste of pus. had peritonsilar abscess 2 yr ago so i remember taste?

: It is unusual or impossible to have tonsillar abscess with pus and you do not have other symptoms such as fever, sore throat, pain with swallowing, etc. Your symptoms are more consistent with post nasal drip from sinus problem.

Dr. can check throat: New throat pain can be from a strep throat infection (antibiotics are needed), a cold virus, influenza (Tamiflu may be needed), or from some other cause such as allergies or irritants. Usually, a person sees the doctor if the sore throat is bothersome, is with moderate or high fever, or with much coughing or worrisome symptoms. Throat lozenges and Tylenol (acetaminophen) or Motrin can lessen pain.

Reflux: Globus sensation. (feeling of a lump in the throat) can be caused by many things.  Acid reflux, irritation from throat clearing , post nasal drip are common causes.  Rare causes include masses or tumors. If symptoms continue an otolaryngologist (ENT) should take a quick look to determine the cause.

hi. i had my ur2 tooth removed 5 days ago, and a temp bridge fitted after extraction. since then my gums and teeth are really sore, plus i get a really bad taste from the extraction site.

What to do:: See the dentist who is treating you as soon as possible to evaluate the cause of your symptoms, if everything is healing properly, what can be done to make you feel more comfortable sooner, and if anything requires immediate treatment. This needs to be evaluate in person.
