: You must be evaluated. A TB screen is recommended. The blood may be from the nasal passages, and a gentle saline rinse may help. Chest pain and blood tinged sputum is usually related to an infection.

Doubtful: Got your last reply-Thanks.  As stated, would be very unlikely it&#x27;s lung cancer, but if you are indeed spitting blood,it&#x27;s most likely from the gum issue.  It would not be unreasonable to get a C-Xray with your smoking history, more to calm your anxiety.  But as stated, best thing you ever did was STOP smoking!

Doctor can evaluate: A person who is newly pooping blood and spitting up blood needs an evaluation in the ER, or with a GI (gastroenterologist) doctor right away. The ER is usually the best place to get care for a new case of blood coming from the mouth and the anus.

male 33, had a bad flu / virus unknown reasons went to doctor later on because of blood spitting, ct scan found nothing, no blootclot in the lungs, chest x-ray done nothing found, what is causing this? i'm not sure anymore. bronchoscopy coming soon?

: Blood in sputum when coughing (hemoptysis) is NOT UNCOMMON in acute bronchitis. I am not sure why bronchoscopy is indicated if chest X-ray and CT were normal unless your blood test results have revealed some hints for certain diseases which require bronchoscopy although CT was negative. Good luck with your next test.

Some possibilities: 1.See a dentist to check teeth and gums.
2. Is he coughing this up?
3. Doe he have some recurring injury? (chewing gum or tobacco)

might wish to see your primary care doc to get a full exam as a start.

Blood in saliva...: There's no way to tell without a thorough examination. If your gums are bleeding due to inflammation, i.e., gingivitis or periodontitis, then it could be your gums. However, bleeding from the throat can be serious. If there's blood in the mucous you cough up, it may be coming from lower down in your respiratory tract. You should see a physician to determine the source of the bleeding. Don't delay!

Allergies to cancer: If your dad is a smoker and seeing blood when he coughs it could be as innocent as irritation to the sinuses or as deadly as a cancer. He should consult his physician and be checked to find the cause.
