ASAP!: A drop in blood pressure during a stress test of more than 10 points is a very ominous sign, and you dropped 80 points! it usually means the left main (widow maker) or all 3 arteries are blocked if the aortic valve is not blocked. Please get a cardiac catheterization quickly! your first symptom might be sudden death! don't wait for this!

Genetics and diet: Essential hypertension is probably genetic, but too much sodium in your diet, lack of exercise and excessive alcohol intake can all add to difficulty controlling blood pressure. One other cause is obstructive sleep apnea. Resistent hypertension can often be linked to untreated sleep apnea.

Weight : Weight lifting is an isometric exercise.  Sports such as water skiing and wrestling also have an isometric element and may raise blood pressure, when one strains against a fixed resistance, blood pressure normally goes up.  It may go up abnormally high in selected  patients (you may be one of them) or in patients with baseline hypertension.  In some cases, there may be associated symptoms such as headache, dizziness, or even passing out.

You should follow the advice of your doctor or cardiologist regarding future weight lifting as well as management of the blood pressure elevation.  However, you may find that you can do multiple repetitions of lifting lighter weights without blood pressure changes.  Aerobic activity, such as walking, running, swimming, or cycling are usually ok and may actually have favorable effects on blood pressure.

?: I'm really not sure what you have in mind. Unless you smoke or have diabetes, I'll bet you don't have angina at all! You need a stress test to see if you have evidence of coronary artery disease and to help determine if you really do have angina or not. ("angina" just means the symptom that arises from inadequate circulation to the heart muscle.)

i have high blood pressure 179/117. i have had an ecg, echocardiogram, chest ex ray, stress test & they are all very good. what could be causing this?

Way too high: If that is truly you BP , you need to be on medicine ; normal tests does not mean you can't have essential HTN , and this needes to be treatmed and looked at to r/o other causes.
