i've had dark circles under my eyes for my life i think. but when i pinch the skin lightly, the pinched part looks lighter, normal even. does that mean it's likely due to blood pooling under eyes?

Usually longer rest: Some people just have that baggy eye-pearance. I'm one of them. Sometimes people have darker regions than others. Probably the best thing to do would be slow down on the ibuprofen. Make sure you're not anemic. Take iron pills for a while. And stop the benadryl, (diphenhydramine) which you probably take to help you sleep but actually causes restlessness and poor sleep hygiene. Then start to work out. Kettle Bells!

Have a checkup: Your cat likely scratched the delicate mucous membrane of the eye resulting in a Subconjunctival hemorrhage &amp; possible laceration. Cats nails are not sterile and your scratch is susceptible to infection. See an ophthalmologist to assess and treat. I'm sure you will be given antibiotic drops. Not likely but a  bite or scratch  from a cat can cause cat scratch fever.

Not uncommon: Headaches after a head injury are not uncommon.  Some pain medications may be more offensive than others.  I would seek care with a specialist (family doctor that has sports medicine training, concussion clinic, neurologist that specializes in this type of thing, etc.).

Common, but: Subconjunctival hemorrhage (bleeding right under the skin of the eye ball) can occur follow coughing/forceful vomitting, or even sneezing. Often no vision change, no pain. Some may feel "something there" but no pain. Looking at it can be scary because it is "blood-shot" if you have change in vision, pain, sensitivities to light, headaches etc...Then see doc asap. If not, it'll get better. Good luc.

However, it could take up to 2 weeks for the blood to go away.  Conversely, if there is blood inside your eyes, then treatment is often needed and this should be followed closely by your ophthalmologist.
