Bleeding: The cause for the cervical bleeding is the issue. You will need to see an OB to examine the cervix for tears, signs of trauma, infection, inflammation- any of these could cause cervical bleeding

Doctor can examine: A college-aged person who has started having sex and now her vaginal mucus has changed and is perhaps a discharge, and who is seeing some blood from her vagina but is not on her period, can see her primary care doctor for a discussion and examination, plus verification of HPV vaccination status to help prevent that infection. Hopefully, all will be normal on exam.

Evaluation of your pap smear is very important  to rule out cervical intraepithelial lesion, low or high grade. Endometrial cells in women after 40 y. Should be reported for appropriate follow up ( to rule out endometrial hyperplasia or neoplasia).

Unlikely it's cancer: There can be many reasons for bleeding  during pregnancy. Cervical cancer is the least likely reason in a 21  year old. Dark blood is less worrisome than bright red blood. WBC's are suggestive of a vaginal infection. I recommend you be examined by you doctor to determine of you have an infection or possibly  a clot or small placental separation.

: "ASCUS" means "abnormal squamous cells of uncertain significance", and signifies cellular changes , non-malignant, with said changes consistent with possible human papilloma virus or just chronic inflammation.  A repeat Pap smear is usually done in six months.

The applicator: The cervix is  very sensitive to being "bumped into" by the applicator. Very gently insert the applicator and remember the vagina is like australia "down under".(smile), not straight in.
