Hematuria: It seems as if you have ruled out all urological causes of hematuria (h), uti's, bladder and kidney problems. You should see a nephrologist to see if glomerulonephritis is causing you to have your h. The blood may be obvious to the naked eye but, in some people, there may only be very small amounts of blood present that can only be detected when the urine is examined under a microscope. after having blood in my wee & bladder pain i had a cystoscope which showed red patches tha the urologist said he was worried about & took a biopsy , does this mean i have cancer ? x

Your symptoms, the: red patches seen on cystoscopy &amp; the necessity of doing a biopsy are NOT proof that you have bladder cancer.  Only the RESULTS of the biopsy  will distinguish bladder cancer from other problems that can cause the findings you describe.  Interstitial cystitis, an inflammatory disorder of the bladder, is at least as likely a cause.  I do wish you the best!  Dr. Anne

Quality: Quality of care depends on many factors. Most likely you urologist did not feel that there is urgency. With incoming changes in insurance market due to healthcare change wait time will become longer. Acces to specialists will be limited. I hope you will get better.

I would stick with: your Urologist and see if he can help you.  Aseptic or interstitial cystitis is a condition similar to what you described, and the bleeding from the urethra may be part of a systemic inflammatory response that must be ruled out, such as urethritis secondary to reactive arthritis. Hematuria: Blood in the urine is hematuria. The causes range from infection, a kidney stone, to cancer of the urinary tract. Risk factors for cancer include smoking and certain industrial exposures.  You have had part of the work up for cancer with the cystoscope, the other two parts are urine cytology and imaging of the urinary tract with a test such as a ct urogram. Your doctors felt it was an infection?

Myoglobinuria: Very, dark  urine with the color of cola could be due to the presence of myoglobin, which is a breakdown product of muscle cell. It can be caused by trauma, alcohol, medications, and vigorous exercises. It could indicate that you have rhabdomyolysis, which could lead to kidney failure. Another cause would be blood (as in uti) or bilirubin in the urine (as in liver disease). Should be checked.

Not exactly: It usually increases heart rate and blood pressure and this can cause flow problems (like stroke / heart attack), not from actual "thickening" of the blood.
