Sometimes such: A problem is related to a in dwelling vascular catheter. Line removal can help.  If that isn't a good option or he clot is large you will likely be prescribed blood thinners.

Venous thrombosis: can be lethal if the the blood clot in the vein travels to the heart, lungs or brain. Please get a second opinion. Coughing up blood ( hemoptysis) is particularly worrisome in view of a jugular venous clot.

Blood clot : I wouldnt chance it. The clot could break loose and cause major problems.However, check with your doctor and get his opinion.

Warfarin: The purpose of the Coumadin (warfarin) is to allow the clot to reverb and prevent a new one. The arm swelling suggests there may be more than just jugular obstruction. Discuss with your doctor.

Veins vs. clots: Blue worms that are not painful are most likely to be varicose veins.  Pain and swelling, with or without varicose veins, is more liekly to be a blood clot.  Regardless, if you have varicose veins that are painful, you should definitely get it checked out by a vein specialist.

Pain and swelling: A clot in the leg is very dangerous and if you feel you may have one, get checked.  Spider veins are not the same thing.  A surface spider vein can hurt and cause tender skin but a deep vein thrombus causes severe tenderness in the calf and swelling.  The clot can fragment or move to lungs, brain or heart and leave devastating results.  Get checked.

Superficial phlebiti: Superficial thrombophlebitis is often times associated with varicose veins.  Activities to strengthen legs can help. A vitamin C and Vitamin E may be worth trying for prevention
