Dependent Congestion: Greetings. The congestion in your nose and ear is related to normal nasal physiology. The structures in your nose called turbinates will swell with blood. Since you are lying down, more blood will be in your nose since you are laying not standing. Gravity will cause the downward side of your nose and ear to have more blood thus causing more blockage. It's like the sand in an hour glass.

Eustachtian tube: This is likely from a blocked eustachtian tube or fluid trapped behind your ear drum. You can try manoeuvres to help open the tube and help drainage. These are called Valsava maneuvers. One is blowing into a blocked straw, another is taking a big breath and holding it and swallowing. Sometimes chewing gum works. If these maneuvers fail to work, see your doctor for medication. All the best.

how can i get rid of a blocked ear, whenever i pop my ear my left ear makes a squealing noise (is this fluid) also have thick grey mucus from my nose.

See an ENT: You may very well have sinuses infection, middle ears are considered part of the sinus system by some ENT. Meanwhile saline nasal washes would help clean nasal passages and reduce congestion, best wishes

i have a sore throat and a blocked nose currently, but i never had a blocked ear in my life. why is this suddenly happening?

Eustachian tube.: One of two things is likely. The congestion may be pressing against the eustachian tube that drains from the ear to the throat. Thus pressure or fluid could build up & cause pain.  Or you could have mucus or other secretions blocking the eustachian tub.

Infection: You could have a sinus and chest infection. I would see a doctor to confirm these interesting complaints. Please see one as soon as possible. Good luck

for the past week, i have occasional pressure in left side of head above temple. i also feel some in my left cheek and my ear feels clogged. no pain, just like a pressure. it goes away if i squeeze the bridge of my nose. help? sinuses? brain tumor?

Need to examine: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. It would be prudent to see a doctor, due to the risk of temporal arteritis. It is unlikely but can be serious and is treatable, so you should see a doctor to rule out this possibility.

Yes. TMJD / TMD: Temporomandibulardisorders - tmd is commonly called "tmj".  It is also called "the great impostor" since it mimics symptoms from other conditions.  Jaw and neck muscles function in concert.  So poor jaw position that strains the jaw muscles also strain neck muscles. Due to the proximity of ear to TMJ (jaw joint) ear fullness, ear pain are quite common with tmd. Tm.

Decongest: To try to decongest the mucous membranes in your nose. Your eustachian tube is the tube you pop your ear with. It connects to the back of the nose. So in some cases, reducing inflammation in the nose can help the eustachian tube pop the ear.

Serous otitis media: You are describing symptoms of fluid behind the ear drum which moves when you move your head forward and backwards.  Change in hearing, dizziness and ringing in your ears all can be caused by this condition, serous otitis media.  Vertigo is caused by an inflammation of the semi-circular canals behind the ear drum and resolves when treated.  See your physician for treatment.
