Is there REAL block?: The key word is "apparent."  the colon may not be squeezing normally, from: nearby inflammation, virus infection, poor nervous system communication from/to brain/gut, diabetes, low thyroid, lack of water and fiber, low roughage diet, lack of exercise ... Etc.  True blockages come from scarring, tumors, cancers, pressure from outside the colon, kinking.  Colonoscopy by a good dr. Needed.  Good luck.

Yes, an MRI: can do the job but there are less expensive and less dramatic diagnostic tools that would be equally beneficial. Discuss these with your health care provider.

Cause: The next step will be finding the cause for your colon blockage in order to be able to address it. Talk to your doc about possibly seeing a gastroenterologist. Keep a log of symptoms, bowel movements, etc that should help your doc better direct the workup.

went to hosp last night said slight blockage in colon sent me home.  today extreme pain used enema. why didn't they can i use milk mg too? confused.

Follow up w/doctor: It is very difficult to determine why you're having this extreme pain without examining you. I do recommend that you follow up here with the doctor that saw you in the emergency room, with your primary care doctor as soon as possible. If your pain continues to get worse than you do need to return to the ER.

Chronic constipation: Suggest see GP for investigation for chronic constipation eg AXR FBC &amp; TSH . May need referral to Gastroenterologist for colonoscopy.

Constipation?: It sounds like you have the feeling of incomplete stool evacuation during a bowel movement.  A bowel obstruction usually is a mechanical obstruction on the intestine caused by scar tissue from previous operations, hernias, masses in the intestine, ect.  If constipated i recommend increasing the fiber and water in your diet, and add a stool softener such as colace (docusate sodium).  If symptoms continue, see a md.
