Due to nursing: If you are early in breastfeeding, the cramps you likely feel (especially in the uterus) are caused by the same hormones that create milk and cause the milk glands to contract and release the milk. Thus, it likely means that nursing is going well.

Normal varies: Almost every thing has been reported by breast feeding mothers when it comes to their menstrual periods. Whilit can take months for the cycle to return to normalcy or remain irregular in between, women need to remain cautious to avoid becoming pregnant as they may be extremely fertile before their period normalizes.

is it safe while breastfeeding?

Yes: Probiotics are not like drugs that might go into the milk. They stay in your gut or are digested like any other food.

Need to examine: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. If you are constipated take a fiber laxative and increase your intake of water.

Time will tell: Are you sexually active?  Despite what some may think...You can get pregnant even though you are breast feeding.  You may also be starting to menstruate again.   Or it may just be your bowels acting up.

No cancer: Bloating and increased urination may be due to uriinary  infection .or due to constipation .Talk to your doctor, get your self examined and urine test for infection. There is nothing to suggest for cancer , but to be sure talk to your doctor .

Maybe IBS, but...: The GI tract has a very limited # of symptoms to signal its distress--nausea/vomiting, diarrhea/constipation, bloating, pain, fullness, bleeding, etc. As you know, many of these characterize ibs, but are also seen with inflammatory, infectious, ischemic, malabsorptive, and functional disorders. Directed lab work, imaging, biopsies, stool studies are appropriate in excluding non-ibs pathology.

Needs evaluation: A person who feels bloated (in the tummy) all the time is not normal, especially if the bloating is new. A doctor can evaluate to figure out the cause. Problems can be due to eating things the person cannot digest. Some parasites cause bloating. More serious causes of bloating include a build-up of fluid in the abdomen due to kidney disease, liver problems, heart failure, abdominal cancers, etc...

No-Maybe 4 some: A mom/baby learning to breastfeed is like 2 teens at their 1st dance in jr-hi, they sort of know what they are supposed to do, but they don't automatically fee comfortable with it at first.  Some mothers have tons of milk, perfect nipples for latching & a reluctant baby. Other babies could suck milk out of a doorknob, but mom can't get comfortable. Keep trying,  use lactation consultant 4 help.

any tips on breastfeeding?

Persistence!: Fill a pitcher of water and set it next to your breastfeeding spot with a glass.  Drink a glass of water every time you sit down to nurse.  Be sure to get pillows you need to position the baby to the breast, rather than hunching down to the baby to nurse.
