bloated stomach and constipation after surgery. is this normal? how do i treat these symptoms?

Constipation: Unfortunately the anesthetic agents, the surgery and the post operative pain management all contribute to constipation. Which can cause multiple abdominal complaints, including bloating. Okay to increase your oral liquids, decrease the narcotics, use laxatives to achieve two soft bowel movements daily. Make your post operative appointment and discuss with your surgeon.

is it normal for my spleen to hurt and stomach to get bloated 7 months after surgery for a lacerated spleen?

Need more info: A lacerated spleen is usually removed and you generally cannot feel pain in the spleen. The stomach bloating may be unrelated. You may wish to consult the doctor who treated you for lacerated spleen.
Wish you good health! - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

i had gallbladder surgery 6 days ago and i still haven't had a bm. is there a laxative or something i can take?  my stomach is sooo bloated.

Yes: Drink more liquids & eat smaller amounts of solid foods. Decrease the amount of narcotic pain medication you are using or stop them. Go to the drug store & ask pharmacist. Can try milk of magnesia, miralax, (polyethylene glycol) magnesium citrate, etc. If you are also having vomiting or fever then contact your surgeon.

Treat like flu: The symptoms of stomach upset after surgery are related to anesthesia.  I think it is best to treat like stomach infection ... Clear fluids, soft foods then as tollerated.

hi can nissen wrap be removed after 2-3 year after surgery, with out stomach damage?because not happy with wrap, not help at all.

Yes: Nissen wrap can be undo without much damage to your stomach. Depending how scar it is and how long ago was the wrap created. I'm sorry that the surgery didn't help your symptoms.

Possible.: Your stomach will go down in direct proportion to the amount of fibroids removed. Your surgeon can tell you more.

Yes: While there are many factors involved, bloating and abdominal "swelling" is common after ventral hernia repair, and goes away on its own after several weeks. Make sure you stay hydrated, and are moving your bowels. Any major problems, be sure to call your surgeon. Hope this helps!

Think small portions: Even tiny meals may make you feel uncomfortably full. If you have had part of your stomach removed, it will not stretch as much as it did before. If you have had all your stomach taken away, the small bowel will need to stretch to take larger amounts of food. You will need to eat very small amounts very often at first. Then, gradually increase the amounts and then the time between meals.

Follow up: 2.5 kg weight loss is probably due to water loss if you are having large amounts of diarrhea. 2.5 kg is only equivalent to 2.5L of water - not very much when compared to our total body water. This can happen to some patients who have their gallbladders removed. Probably not related to underlying cancer but it's ok to see your doctor for follow up to assess your risk factors. Hope this helps

my dad had a back (spine)surgery two weeks ago. he started vomiting, he has constipation and his stomach is bloated all the time. what shoild he take?

Go see a doctor: Post surgical complications can occur.  Your dad could have an ileus.  Maybe he has a infection in his abdomen.  Does he have a fever?  I would call your surgeon and let him know about this.
