Time: As long as there is no infection it can take up to 2 weeks for your lip to heal .  Time can be the best medicine.

Mgt: I would suggest being seen by your physician. Is there a fever associated? Does he appear ill? Are there any skin rashes? Please avoid acidic drinks and foods, and keep him well hydrated while monitoring his temperature.

See below: Sounds like a cyst of salivary gland in lip aka mucocele. Benign. Fp/ent can treat it. Trauma to lip can cause them; can recur if not removed completely.

Sure: Sounds like you've answered your own question. If he did that it could be from direct trauma or possibly a new herpes simplex lesion has developed. If you've had cold sores in the past this might be a new one.

Herpetic: Do you have a history of cold sores? If so you may need antiviral therapy. If not  consider leaving it alone for 2-4 days and it should resolve. Vaseline may help to speed healing by occlusion

Blisters lip: It sounds like you activated the heroes simplex virus. If you are seen early in the outbreak, antiviral medication may work. Keep the area moisturized and protect from the sun. This may reoccur. All the best.

Antibiotics: Due to the remaining numbness in the lips or cheeks its not unusual that children "play around" with that area and end up bitting it lacerating or injuring  . The area generally heals by itself but antibiotic supplements will help the healing process. However you should consult the dentist to be sure on the cause.

around 4 weeks ago i broke up with my boyfriend.  i was quite anxious - not eating or sleeping well and i started biting my bottom lip - not hard - just holding it with my top teeth.  i now have a blister (not a cold sore) that wont heal?
