Antibiotics: Due to the remaining numbness in the lips or cheeks its not unusual that children "play around" with that area and end up bitting it lacerating or injuring . The area generally heals by itself but antibiotic supplements will help the healing process. However you should consult the dentist to be sure on the cause.

Caution: It will heal. After "novocaine" local anesthesia, especially in younger children, it is very important to monitor the child until the numbness wears off to prevent such an occurrence.

Observation: Will probably heal on its own with time. Advise your dentist of situation and follow his/her advice. It's like a badly scraped knee, takes time to heal.
