: The most common cause of breakthrough bleeding while on low dose oral bcp's is lack of punctuality in taking the "active" pills.  The active pill should be taken within the hour that the prior day's active pill was taken.  If this continues, ask your GYN physician for guidance.

Irregular period: Irregular periods following introduction of hormonal birth control is very common. It reflects your body's efforts to recalibrate hormones with new levels. It can take up to 6 months to resume normal cycles. Additional side effects include nausea/vomiting, headache, painful menstruation, changes in weight. Talk to your Dr if this bleeding persists.

Continue evaluating: A gynecologist can continue evaluating to see why a woman is having bleeding between menstrual cycles. The doctor can check for hormonal imbalances, especially if the patient is near menopause. A blood test can check for anemia, and also for low platelets or an abnormal pt/ptt (which can cause prolonged bleeding). A pelvic/abdominal ultrasound scan can look for tumors and other problems.

There could be a : Number of reasons:the most common is , if you are just starting , your body has to adjust.If you have been skipping pills or drug interaction if you are taking other drugs.less commonly ; if you have switched pills ,several times and it persists. ,then it's a structural problem in the uterus.

BREAK THROUGH BLEEDI: Get a pregnancy test for starters. Once that is negative , go and see your doctor. You might need some extra support of progesterone . make sure that your cervical smears are normal. also i can't see your age . The causes of bleeding need to be seen in light of the patients age and risk factors.
