Side effect of BC: Break through bleeding is a term used to describe bleeding in between menses in a woman who is on hormonal birth control. It is usually something that occurs in the first few months of starting a new method of birth control and will usually go away by itself. If it is very heavy or lasts more than a few months, let your doctor know.

Few things: I assume you are on birth control pills. Sometimes, you can use extra estrogen temporarily which will eliminate this bleeding. Doubling up on the pill will not! one can also go to higher estrogen dose pills but the risk also increases to some degree.
