post uterine polypectomy--i'm still bleeding, what should i do?

Depends: You might commonly experience bleeding after polypectomy, but this should not be more than a regualr period; this might last for 4-6 weeks; however if the bleeding persists longer or is very heavy; then you might have another cause for the bleeding (for example adenomyosis, dysfunctional bleeding etc); you need to discuss it with your gyn.

heavy bleeding. endometrial biopsy showed polyp. hysteroscopy/polypectomy done and dr says my uterus lining looks irregular and has some scarring. never had a d&c. what does irregular mean? could this be hormonal? im 45 and fsh is 66

Irregular lining: An irregular endometrial lining is due to inconsistent endometrial growth of the lining. This can occur at your age of 45 due to estrogen without progesterone stimulation as ovulation and resultant progesterone at this age is infrequent. Endometrial scarring can be due to a previous infection of the endometrial lining, placental childbirth issues, and of course a  previous too vigorous D &amp; C.

when do you stop bleeding after a polypectomy and ablation?

Should stop: Immediately if this was the cause of your bleeding. You may see minor bleeding for up to 10 days but if this was the cause of your bleeding, it should stop promptly. If concerned call your endoscopist promptly and discuss.

Yes and no: If you are just spotting like a light period yes, but if it is heavy bleeding and you are having cramping and abdominal pain go to the emergency room for exam immediately.

Spotting: Of a drop or two is not unusual. Anything more than that or passage of clots of old blood is concerning enough to report this promptly to your colonoscopist.

Continued bleeding: and pain at this point is DEFINITELY ABNORMAL and needs urgent follow-up with your Treating Physician!!

Probably not: It is normal to stop bleeding after a routine hysteroscope/polypectomy. It is unlikely you are bleeding on the inside.

is it normal to bleed on an off after hysteroscopy/d&c/polypectomy? i bled 1st day pink mucous for 9 days now day 10 bleeding very lightly. no odor.

Post op bldg.: Hysteroscopy with a "D&amp;C and polypectomy" can result in mild or even moderate bleeding while the lining of the womb is healing.  This should not continue. If you have additional episodes of bleeding, see your healthcare provider who performed the surgery.

i had an endemetrial polypectomy 6 days ago. there was spotting for 3 days and then stopped. however on day 6 there was quite a bit of bleeding. is this normal?

Yes: this would be normal, but keep track of flow patterns

See doctor: This should not be happening. If you are not having any symptoms then see your doctor tomorrow. If you are light headed, dizzy of feel faint then go to Emergency now.
