Easy question: Macules are flat. Papules are raised above the surrounding level of the skin. Hives are itchy papules where each hives lasts less than 24 hours. Hives often last for days to weeks but an individual hive lasts less than a day, resolves without leaving a mark on the skin, and may be replaced with other hives.

: Typically, yes, a lupus rash would blanch when pressed. But, to properly diagnose any rash it needs to be seen. You can see a dermatologist to diagnose and potentially treat a rash or the underlying condition that causes a rash. Good luck to you!

woke up with a rash on one side of lower stomach. blanches, doesn't itch at all, slightly raised tiny pink dots. what could this be?

It could be many: things, most commonly a contact dermatitis. so I would try OTC hydrocortisone twice a day , if it doesn't resolve or gets worse in the next few days I would see a dermatologist for diagnosis as there are many other things this could be (including viral, bacterial, drug...)

does the skin rash blanch if your baby has diaper rash?

Yes.: Diaper dermatitis will usually blanch when you press on it; it's a sign that the skin is inflamed, and the little tiny blood vessels in it have dilated to bring more blood to the area. The fastest treatment for diaper dermatitis is to take off the diaper. While that may mean somebody will have to follow the baby around with a pooper scooper, the rash will clear very quickly.

A few possibilities: Just from your description one could consider a fungal infection (ring worm).  However, ring-like lesions can also be seen in a type of lupus called subacute cutaneous lupus.  And there are certainly other things one could consider.  I would strongly suggest you have this examined by a dermatologist to help you figure this out.

Skin rash: Many kinds of skin rash could behave this way. Most non-blanching red spots are NOT petechieae. If this has persisted for some time and you are otherwise well, probably it's nothing serious. But see a dermatologist to figure out what's going on.

Allergy: This sounds like an allergic reaction. Keep a journal of what you have just eaten and when you get the rash. Likely a connection between the food intake and rash.

See below: This could be roseola. A common infection in kids to about 2 1/2 years of age. The rash should last about 4 days, then resolve. I would have your child seen.

Needs work up: This could represent many clinical entities, some more serious than others.  Start with her pediatrician to figure this out.  She may need dermatology and/or immunology consultations.

hello. i am obsessed with health. i had a flat rash last week the size of a coin on my forearm that doesnt itch, blanch nor hurt. i dont remember hitting it either. can it be leukemia? something related to the liver? i have no other symptoms?

: Not enough even to comment on it, however based on description a skin condition will be most likely, liver or leukemia always possible, not likely in the absence of other symptoms. In case rash becomes persistent or experiencing other generalized symptoms let your doc know. Health related anxiety is exacerbated by indiscriminate Internet use that lists the most serious conditions first.
