Black lines?: It depends on whether they are just extrinsic stains or intrinsic (caused by other reasons, such as antibiotics ). A simple staining cause by food or beverages can be removed by cleaning and or bleaching. Intrinsic stains however cannot be fixed without placing veneers or crowns on the teeth.

Regular: Brushing and flossing. I recommend flossing first then brushing for five minutes once in a 24 hr period to be sure you get all the bacteria off the cheek side, tongue side, tops, gums & behind the last teeth. My patients who follow this routine do not get decay or gum disease. Don't forget regular check ups with your dentist.

Maybe side effects: At the age of fifty it is unusual for medication to cause staining of your teeth.  However, if the medication is affecting your salivary flow you might be getting an unusual build up on your teeth.  see your dentist, you might just need them cleaned
