PIH or dark spots: It sounds like something called "post inflammatory hyperpigmentation" or pih.  The pigment producing cells get irritated by the inflammation and spew out more pigment, causing a dark spot.  Often these will go away if you give it enough time.  To speed things up, i often prescribe a combination of hydroquinone cream, retin a (tretinoin) and kojic acid.  Neocutis makes a product called 'perle" that works too.

General physician: Any licensed physician can mange all but the most severe cases of acne. If topical benzoyl peroxide has not cleared you in two weeks, adding topical Clindamycin or a short course of a systemic antibiotic may be sufficient.

Dermatology consult: Scarring acne in a young black woman is especially difficult and i would urge you to get without delay to a professional dermatologist. All acne can be managed nowadays with scientific medicine and it's very unfortunate that you were allowed to develop scars. "pop" and over-the-counter treatments probably will not be sufficient; until you can get seen, benzoyl peroxide is your friend.

Use catuion: Aa skin is very sensitive to all the lasers and chemical peels in that the skin can become darker or lighter. Darker tends to resolve hypopigmentation ( lighter) may not.
The standards are safe for you benzoyl peroxide washes, maybe oral antibiotics for a few months (minocycline) and exfoliators like Retin-A or gentile glycolic acid peels in the form of a wash.
See a good dermatologist not a spa.

I : I would consider either cerave hydrating cleanser or cetaphil cleanser.  Both are gentle, fragrance free, and don't tend to try out the skin.  Make sure that your daughter is patient and thorough with the washing process because many kids that age don't spend the time to wash properly!  i also like their moisturizer lotions to use if there is still dryness of the face after cleansing. Spironolactone: Adult female acne is common. May be worse with certain androgenic birth control hormones.  Worse if PCOS. Do you have normal menstrual periods? Antibiotics work for about 10% of these people. The antiandrogen SPIRONOLACTONE will usually clear this in 3 months, then continue if success. Not if pregnant, kidney failure. Do not take potassium pills. If this fails, oral isotretinoin will rescue you.

Black dot acne: Those black dots are most likely open comedones, the fancy words for blackheads. These are actually brown, and turn color because enzymes in the skin turn them that color. It is not from being dirty. Gentle washcloth action in the shower, exfoliants like retinol and Retin-A and acne cleanings at your dermatologist's office will help.
