PIH or dark spots: It sounds like something called "post inflammatory hyperpigmentation" or pih. The pigment producing cells get irritated by the inflammation and spew out more pigment, causing a dark spot. Often these will go away if you give it enough time. To speed things up, i often prescribe a combination of hydroquinone cream, retin a (tretinoin) and kojic acid. Neocutis makes a product called 'perle" that works too.
