No: Pigments in foods have nothing to do with coloring of skin. Skin coloring has to do with amounts of melanin your skin cells produce. More likely you would benefit from using a strong sunscreen on your face each and every time you go outside, even if it's a cloudy day. The uv waves of light activate melanin, not foods.

Depends on the marks: Acne is caused by skin pores being plugged by tiny clumps of skin cells (the clump is called a comedone). When there are no bumps or actual pimples and pustules, the acne-prone areas of skin will still have plugged pores. Maybe the black spots are comedones in the skin pores. Dark spots can also  be "post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation" that takes months to fade after pimples break and heal up.

Back acne: If you are still developing widespread acne on the back, then you should talk with your doctor about oral medications like antibiotics- usually the topical treatments are difficult to apply on such an area.  If it's the acne scars you're talking about, unfortunately there's no magic cream to remove them.  Sometimes laser treatment by dermatologists can help with acne scaring.  I'd start there.

Serious Rx: if your acne had recently involved your trunk, you will need both topical benzoyl peroxide or retinoic acid and something prescription strength. Spironolactone is an idea since you are a she. There are others. Best wishes.

Postinflammatory hyp: The first and most important thing is that you rid yourself of the acne which is causing these spots.   This can be done in many ways and your dermatologist will help you. If the acne is stopped, and the spots are left alone and not picked-at, they usually do go away with enough time. Above all, it is most important to get the advice of your dermatologist.

: The best treatment for acne is prevention. Daily wash your face in the morning and at night with a good quality face soap. This will clean out your pores and reduce the number of bacteria on your skin. Following this, apply a medicated acne preparation containing either benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid. These also reduce bacteria and open clogged pores. Lastly, treat pimples with spot treatments

Many OTC products: There are many over the counter bleaching agents such as hydroquinone (2%), licorice, kojic acid, manganese when combined with glycolic acid or retinol can help to lighten the black marks. Kojic acid, arbutin (found in bearberry and mulberry), azelaic acid, niacinamide are more natural remedies that are safer for the skin.
