Straightforward: Don't worry. While any procedure can have complications, this one is low risk (not zero...). I would be more worried about the reason the stent is there, and whether or not a stricture (narrowing from scar) will develop afterwards. You may want to ask that. I'm sure they will give you adequate sedation for the procedure. Hope this helps!

GI function: You will be ready when your GI function returns to normal , no abdominal distention and no pain , when you are doing all things your were doing before, that includes your exercises. Make sure you go for follow up visits including stent removal.

i was diagnosed with bilary colic and gallstones last week. i have gallbladder removal surgery in 2 weeks. i haven't had another attack, but keep having sharp sticking pains where gb is. is this normal and can i treat with advil?

Surgery: With upcoming surgery I recommend avoiding medication like Advil which can potentiate bleeding. Take acetomeniphen, but don't exceed the recommended doses and don't mix with alcohol intake. If your discomfort worsens, notify your surgeon for instructions.

Yes,: Post cholecystectomy syndrome can be caused by retained common duct stone, cystic duct syndrome, formation of a neuroma or sphincter of odi spasm. You should consult your surgeon about your symptoms. A GI medicine consult may be necessary to evaluate the common duct.

Trial and error: After gallbladder removal, the bile from the liver constantly drains into the intestine (rather than being stored in the gallbladder between meals and squirted into the intestine after meals).  Bile can be irritating and about 25% of patients may experience gastric irritation or diarrhea. This is called post-cholecystectomy syndrome.  Avoid acid food and fatty food.  Minimize alcohol and tobacco.
