my bicep muscle on my left arm has been "twitching" for the past 48 hours, i don't have any weakness or numbness in the arm. ?

Is it life threatening?- No
Is it going to stop?- They always do at some point
How can I make it go away?- Well, sometimes you can and sometimes you can't
Should I go to the ER? No, but if it's still there another day and it's bothering you set up an appointment to see your doctor.  Some blood work, a quick physical exam and he may be able to give something to slow it down.

Muscle twitches: Twitches can come from a variety of things, one of which is low magnesium.  ALS is very low down on that list.  Please see your doctor who will identify the cause and help you.  Peace and good health.

Need to examine: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. Causes of muscle twitching range from trivial abnormality in electrolytes to life threatening illness like ALS.  It would be prudent to see your doctor.

Fasciculation: muscle twitching can be a benign like in a benign fasciculation syndrome OR not like in a process affecting the muscle, motor nerve, plexus, root, or anterior horn. consult a neurologist for an EMG/nerve conduction study, MRI if the study is abnormal. In the interim consider OTC magnesium supplementation as it can help with benign fasciculations. cut back on caffeine, increase sleep and relaxation

can ciprofloxacin cause weakness in arm with some occasional twitching? is that permanent?

Neurologic effects: Cipro and other fluoroquinolone antibiotics CAN cause neurological side effects - depending on dose, duration, patient age and other factors. I would say it's VERY IMPORTANT to let the doctor know who prescribed these antibiotics. To me, this seems like something serious - so I would not waste any time. Hopefully these side effects are temporary, let's get it evaluated properly.

Usually benign: Fasciculations does not = ALS. They are more likely a symptom of excess caffeine, lack of sleep, anxiety, stress, etc. Diagnosis for ALS does include fasciculations in the criteria, but only one part of it, and must be accompanied by weakness in the same limb. Twitching as related to ALS indicates dying muscle and therefore weakness which does not come and go. See a Neurologist for eval if needed.

Muscle twitch: Many causes of muscle twitches , ALS is not likely to be the cause of them . If they persist or increase in frequency  or length of time , u should be checked.
