Old fashion Rx: A few decades ago we routinely advised patients to sip a little flat cola over ice chips to settle a stomach. Now they have an otc product "emetrol" that is based on the same idea. It works for some. The idea is to take small volumes frequently until the stomach stops the spasms.

Slightly flattened : Ginger ale. Probably the simplest way to reduce nausea ; upset stomach is with ginger. You can drink slightly flattened ginger ale or nibble on crystallized ginger. Or pour boiling water over freshly sliced organic ginger ; steep x 5 min in a covered pot. Sip.

YES: Distension of your stomach can produce nausea and gas with soda is a GREAT "distender".....why don't you quit the soda for a while and see if this helps??????

: It depends on why the stomach is upset. It may be due to a viral infection which will resolve in day or two. It could also be due to bad eating habits and drinking. Mental health issues can manifest as upset stomach. If your symptoms are not resolved in a week, it would be prudent to see a doctor.

Daily AM nausea: Pregnancy & gynecologic issues are ruled out by male gender but otherwise causes of nausea below are not gender-specific: distinguish inflammatory (ulcer, small bowel disease, gallbladder/ biliary problem, pancreatitis, uti), structural (partial obstruction, extrinsic impression against the gut/sma), functional (gastroparesis, irritable bowel), anxiety/school refusal syndrome. See doc to be sure.

Depends on the: cause and severity of nausea. Nausea can be triggered by the brain or my GI irritants. Ginger is an intestinal spasmolytic &amp; helps eliminate gas from the intestines. Ginger also impacts the feedback loop between nausea center in the brain and the stomach. It is very beneficial for nausea and motion sickness.

Cannot diagnose: Your abdominal pain sounds somewhat concerning.  See a doctor and describe the pain, frequency, location, precipitating factors, changes with position and any other accompanying symptoms.  You may need imaging studies or conceivably endoscopy.  Go soon and get this worked out.  Hope you are better soon.

: Any of these 3 products could be used for stomach upset, depending on which one works best for you. Everyone is different so you should probably pick the one you can most easily afford and see if that helps. If it doesn’t, see your doctor. Good luck to you!

: Any of these will do Generally the first two work well. But if your symptoms are recurrent pl see your doc.

i went 5 months w/o soda, but started drinking a couple glasses of it each day since this past weekend & ever since i've been feeling bloated & gassy along w/ stomach discomfort/pain. is it likely a reaction to the carbonation? when will it go away?

: It is very possible your symptoms are related to the carbonated soda. If your symptoms resolve when you don’t drink any carbonated beverages, then it is even more likely that the soda is causing your symptoms. If that is the case, then avoid carbonated drinks. Luckily, there are plenty of other options for you to drink to stay hydrated!! Best of luck to you!!
