Specialist: Your best move would be to see a physician who specializes in sleep disorders as it's not advisable to become dependent on these types of medications especially at your age as they become quite habit forming and you wouldn't want to become dependent on them.The physician would perform a thorough evaluation of your insomnia and advise you on medication or  Referrals to other specialists as well.

on bp meds. best sleep aid with back pain? melatonin or tylenol pm? or take regular tylenol when i have pain & melatonin? only melatonin w/o pain?

Sleep: The Melatonin and Tylenol can be taken together without issue. Tylenol Pm has Diphenhydramine with it. For a few days the Tylenol PM or the Tylenol alone would be not a problem.

Accepted Answer

No: Unless the medication is giving you serious side effects, generally you should taper the medication slowly. Otherwise, you run the risk of resulting in rebound insomnia. Talk to your doctor about how to do this.

Melatonin: Try melatonin to help with sleep in adhd. If still not sleeping, see your child's pediatrician about a trial of clonidine.

Antihistamines: Hi. Melatonin doesn't work for everyone. Try diphenhidramine 25 before bed. May increase to 50 mg. Can cause drowsiness the next morning, urinary retention, and dry mouth.

Sounds "hopeful": Since is a NEW STRUCTURE!!!!! It is not related to the existing medications!  ANY SLEEP MEDICATION has problems of habituation and tachyphylaxis (larger doses required for same effects) after time.

Belsomra: This is a new medication that shows some promising results. It works directly in the "sleep center" and makes falling asleep easier.  It is available by prescription only and you should talk to your doctor about it.

is it safe to take drug that caused cataplexy? geodon (ziprasidone) 50mg gave best sleep of my life but at 75mg gave me full blown cataplexy.. and best sleep! i slept deep solid 8 hours and woke up feeling great!

Geodon (ziprasidone): If the medicine gave you the best results discuss with your prescribing physician the dose adjustment for optimum response and tolerability.

Complex: you have a situation thats best to solve with your MD and not on the internet. have you already seen a sleep specialist? you need to get an appt with your psychiatrist or a sleep medicine specialist. be clear that you don't like taking so many meds. also, you could get a second opinion about dx and meds. its possible that a higher dose of seroquel (quetiapine) could help. exercise and keep regular sleep sched.

Get it checked out!: Seek medical help to determine to cause of your sleep and weight issues. Typically a collapse airway is involved and today, a simple overnight take home sleep test can provide all the information needed to determine if a potentially life threatening, life shortening condition of obstructive sleep apnea may be at play. Do it, it may save your life!
