Sun avoidance: I am sorry to hear about your facial spots.I don't believe any over the counter cream would treat your brown spots.I first advise you stay away from the sun and use a good sunscreen as a preventive measure.  My mother had this issue and she just started to avoid direct sun light and use a sunscreen with good results.  I would advise you speak to the dermatologist who did the zap treatment for help

Diagnosis needed: First these areas have to be diagnosed by a physician or dermatologist before treatment options can be addressed. In the meantime use gentle soaps or use cream facial cleanser. Seeing a skilled cosmetics specialist or cosmetician is a good idea if no true skin pathology is present.

Unwise: A proper diagnosis is very important and requires an examination by your physician or dermatologist. I recommend discontinuing the cream in view of the itching reaction. Benjoyl peroxide is used for acne, and if you don't have acne you shouldn't apply it to your face. Skin reactions to this product can definitely occur.

Hydroquinone: There are a variety of over the counter products that contain a bleaching agent called hydroquinone.  My favorite is one called ambi that is usually around $10-15.  Apply it 1-2 times daily for 2 months.  If that does not lighten the spots up, you should stop using it and see a dermatologist for other options.

Depends: need to know exactly what the "spots" are clinically. Although often these lesions can be traeted by certain creams or ablative devices such as lasers, it would be a good idea to know the correct dx. see dermatologist for evaluation.

Wash or cream: I would suggest trying a wash and/or cream with benzoyl peroxide as it is easy (at least here) to obtain and tends to work fairly well. If not, salicylic acid works as well but not quite as well for more significant acne. If these don't work, I would suggest a visit with your doctor for prescription options such as a topical retinoid . Good luck!
