Get it removed: This is a large cyst, suspected to have elements in it which may not be all benign. So it is best to remove it and check it out for cancer.

: There is no relationship between alcohol and FNH so social drinking should not be a problem. Take care.

Yes: If it is irritating part of the airway, or lining (pleura) of the lung.

See your doctor: It could be either.  There are characteristic of masses that guide the radiologist one way or the other.  I would imagine that your doctor will recommend a biopsy and other tests to help decide what this is.

i have 8cm benign mass protruding from appendix into cecum, is it safe to wait six months to check for growth, or should it be removed.  causes pain.?

8 cm?: That's a tennis ball! you sure it isn't 8mm?  Anyhow, if a definite mass is noted during colonoscopy, it should be removed to be safe.  Keep in mind that a biopsy can be falsely negative and the true nature of a tumor is not certain unless the entire lesion is studied carefully by a pathologist.

very small submucosal gastric mass found on routine endoscopy. dr said it felt soft when biopsied (normal result), and did flatten a bit with air insulffation. is this trending towards benign?

: If the lesion was biopsied, as you say, examination of the tissue by a pathologist should provide definitive answer.

: If the mammogram and sonogram were done at the same imaging location, certain kinds of breast cysts can resolve spontaneously. The important finding for potential breast cancer is a serious of light calcifications, which do not "disappear", and do require biopsy. It is unlikely that with the former location of the mass "known", that a tech or physician would "miss" this finding.

how can you distinguish between a benign and malignant breast mass?

Guessing: Guessing about whether a breast mass is malignant or benign is kind of like playing Russian Roulette. That is why a medical evaluation is warranted for any breast mass.

can a benign kidney mass cause kidney stones?

Accepted Answer

Yes and no: A benign kidney mass, the most common is called a simple cyst, does not cause kidney stones. Stasis of urine, diet and genetics cause stones. If there is calcium (or stones) within the mass then it may not be benign and a pre and post contrast ct or MRI is needed to determine what is going on.

what could cause a benign tumor-like mass after a shoulder surgery?

Postop shoulder: Depends on how far out from surgery you are and your symptoms. Possibilities include hematoma formation, normal postoperative soft tissue swelling, hardware or repair failure, infection, etc. The most important thing you can do is follow up with your routine postoperative checks that your shoulder surgeon has arranged.
