Flossing if done  : Properly helps stimulate the gums, prevent gum disease, decreases the likelihood of inter proximal (between teeth) cavities.  It is difficult to master and so most of us don't do it properly.  Have a dentist or hygienist demonstrate the proper technique.

Accepted Answer

Possibly, but.....: Chewing gum promotes salivation.  Saliva helps dilute  the acid in our mouths that is produced by the bacteria every time we eat. This in turn could lead to reduced tooth decay. The down side is that lots of gum chewing can lead to TMJ dysfunction. My advice is take proper care of your teeth by brushing, and flossing and skip the gum chewing.

what the benefit of doxycycline for gum?

Accepted Answer

Periodontal disease: Doxycycline is a good broad spectrum antibiotic.  Periodontal disease is cause by a gram negative bacteria.  Penicillin type of antibiotics only treats gram positive bacteria infectionsl.
I usually prescribe Doxycycline (100mg) before my pre-surgical therapy. We also use a  low-dose of Doxycycline (20mg) taken in pill form to control gingival inflammation.

Gum chewing: Personally, I am not in favor of chewing gum. There are better ways to keep your teeth healthy. Proper brushing and flossing and a healthy diet is all that is really necessary. The one exception would be to use gum containing xylitol. You can read up on it. Sugar substitutes are used because them impart the same taste as sugar.

Absolutely! : Absolutely! xylitol based gum stimulates salivary flow and helps keep your teeth clean without feeding sugar to the bacteria that cause tooth decay.

NO: Aloe Vera is for external use, not for internal.  It will not whiten teeth, cure cavities, cure gum disease, or anything else in the mouth.  It's for soothing and softening SKIN, not teeth or gums.  If you are having a Dental problem, call your Dentist for an appointment before the problem gets worse.  And by the way, toothpaste does not cure Acne.

i have a tiny and a large muccocele on inside of lower lip and feel,it outside on my chin. how to get rid of it at home as feels it is bothering the gum line of front lower teeth. do i use cold or hot compresses on it as used my dental benefit?

: Mucocele, a salivary gland lesion caused by a blockage of a salivary gland duct.  Surgical excision with removal of the involved accessory salivary gland is a definitive treatment.

Probably OK: There may be small benefits for a few indications, nothing worth significant investment. Note that genuine mastic is expensive, so most of the "Mastic" sold is actually counterfeit.

i am taking 1000 mg (mastic gum) in the morning and one in the night. also, i'm taking manuka honey 400 mgo before bedtime. is this safe?

Accepted Answer

Yes: I presume  you are taking mastic gum to help with stomach upset, perhaps even diagnosed as having Helicobacter Pylori infection, and the honey as a helping therapy.  The dose you mention for the mastic is a little on the high side, but shouldnt be a problem.
