i have heel pain and foot pain on the outside of foot immediately in front of the heel.  it seems to get aggravated after running or being on my feet.

A lot there.: It sounds as though you are speaking of the area around the base of the fifth metatarsal, cuboid, calcaneus junction. A lot can be going on there including but not limited to inflamed fascia, tendon, an accessory bone or even a stress fracture. You best bet is to see a specialist for an evaluation to sort out all the possibilities.

having  pain in front of ankle where too of my foot meets ankle. pain is felt when running and going up stairs. woke up with the pain. ideas?

Tendonitis: Sounds like u have anterior  tibial  tendonitis . Not uncommon in runners. Try taking a nsaids , stretching  and ice massage after your runs! if it doesn't improve crosstrain . If it doesn't then see your ors!

Foot and ankle pain: Onset of specific ant ankle pain while running is characteristic of doing an too much too quickly. Decrease your mileage by 50 % . K
Ie stop at 1 and a half miles. Slowly increase distance by 10 % per week. By gradually increasing you allow your body to accommodate to the forces it is facing. I assume that u are running on an even path ,for if it is inclined , the fact that only your left ankle

Ortho Eval needed: Seek evaluation by your orthopaedic surgeon. Along with a thorough examination of your ankle, X-rays would likely be obtained to assess for a potential loose body of osteophyte that may make stair climbing painful. Instability or ankle looseness would also be assessed as the anterior and lateral aspect of the ankle is where the main stabilizing ligaments are located.

i have really bad callosus on my feet from running, any good advice?

Possible support: Calluses are all about function....over function. The way your foot works is causing your callus to form. Would suggest new shoes if you have not already done so. Then see a Podiatrist for possible orthotics to be made to relieve the pressure if it hurts you. Do not limp or favor your foot when you run. You will hurt something else.

good day my husband has 2 cuts under his feet. he is a marathon runner can you please assist. is it something to have checked out or can it be because of running?

Possibly running: If he does not recall cutting his foot on a sharp object, it is likely to be related to running.  The foot sole of the foot can become quite calloused, and then will crack or fissure with excess movement.  Keeping the skin of the foot lubricated and removing large calluses is important for prevention.  New Skin is a liquid bandage that can help with healing.  If look infected or bleed, see doctor.

Shoes?: You may need to have the type, brand, and fit of shoe checked.  There are some brands that just don't work for some people.  For myself, i cannot run in nike shoes because the shoe tends to fit too narrow.  Varies from person to person.  Talk to someone at a specialty running store or a foot dr.

Yes: Often times using an orthotic or support in the shoe will help ease the pain.

can being flat footed affect running?

Accepted Answer

Yes but: There are running shoes and orthotics designed for all types of feet and also all types of running styles.  You can be trained to run effectively.  I would consider someone knowledgeable at a specialty running shoe store or even a foot dr. Or physical therapist.
