Talk to your doctor: Pain is real. There are many treatments other than opiates. Problem with opiates is your body develops tolerance over time and you need more to get the same effect for pain relief and the euphoria (good mood) you get. Actually people become more sensitive to pain with chronic opiate use. Talk to your doctor about alternative treatments and see if it is possible to reduce opiates over time.

If people fall back on childish behaviors that are ineffective they may be lacking coping resources (skills) that would be more effective in meeting their needs. Learning more effective alternatives to childish behavior would yield improved results. Your behavior isn't happening to you, but through you.  Identify and choose new behaviors.
