i found out i have liver problems yesterday, i started taking probiotics 2 wks ago, i heard its good for liver issues,how do i protect my liver and what else can i take or not take? they said it was in the beginning stages,i dont even drink?

: We need more information before we can advise you. I think you'll be best served by consulting a hepatologist or gastroenterologist for thorough evaluation&amp; best advise and follow-up.  Appropriate testing will be ordered. I assume you've already had a hepatitis panel done. Fatty liver may be the issue.

i have sporadic light tan stools. they come and go, may have them a few times then normal dark brown stool. no jaundice ect. liver labs and kidney labs normal last month since on/off likely ok? or should i worry? take probiotics regularly have ibs?

: Variable stool color depends mostly on diet. This doesn't sound abnormal at all.

cod liver oil okay to take? i have a shellfish allergy. also double q. are probiotics good for fungus on tongue or yeast overgrowth in stomach?

Several questions: 1. Cod liver oil, if you can tolerate it, is ok to take, even with a shellfish allergy
2. Probiotics are usually strains of lactobacillus species which may help to repopulate a GI tract flora altered by antibiotic treatment, and can be beneficial.

Probiotics are considered safe overall for healthy people; short-term side effects may include mild gas and bloating. Probiotics  by promoting healthy gut flora Rx chr.liver damage.

ive been taking probiotics, i have liver issues and i heard they help get rid of them,lately i dont hardly itch at night like i used to, does that mean theyre working? seeing a doctor on monday about this and other stuff,is it true they help heal it?

: I don't know if the FDA concluded this, but proponents of probiotics claim they aid digestion &amp; assimilation of nutrients. Itching without a rash can be caused by liver pathology. Have your markers of chronic liver pathology improved? If so probiotics may have indirectly contributed. Unless you're immunocompromised, I'd continue on them.

ive been taking collagen since sept,it got rid of my osteopenia, also, my prediabetes,even my kidneys have improved,also, ive been taking probiotics and i heard it heals liver and fungus,now the fungus in my toenails are almost gone,how does it do it?

"best" probiotics: Like all the newest, latest, and greatest highly touted "natural" medications, probiotics have become very popular. However, none have been shown in independent testing to be of any efficacy for a  "normal" bowel, let alone one with inflammatory symptoms. You should first obtain a diagnosis--as "ibs" is not a diagnosis at all--rather than self medicating. Good luck.

i have bad kidneys and they got better, my bad liver went back to normal, not sure if im bloating or whats going on, i use probiotics but i wondered if i gain weight when im not eating much is it possible to have a tumor somewhere growing and doing i?

: If you haven’t had labs in a while, it may be time to check on your kidney and liver function. In addition, medication side effects need to be looked at. So, you should see your doctor to evaluate unexpected weight gain, especially if you are taking in low calories. A tumor is always possible but there are other possibilities that need to be explored as well. So, see your doctor. Good luck!

probiotics - lacto&bact, a banging headache developed. how long til they leave the system? (3wks on, last 5 days off)..somehow it looks like acidosis?

Think it is: Coincidence with the probiotics. They are just like your own flora to beef it up and make you gut work better. You must have some other reason for the headache . Could you have a sinus pressure ???neck spasms???

Save your money!: There is no good  clinical  evidence that it does any good at all!  Don't waste your moola.  You're exposed to lots of germs from those kids. Eventually, you'll be immune to durn near everything!  Eat plenty of fruits and veggies and don't rely on supplements (not proven to help), to stay fit.  If we got healthy from supplements, nobody would get sick. They're often an excuse to eat unhealthy food
