is it safe to use "beconase" aqueous nasal spray for blocked/runny nose? are there any side effects?

Not systemic: All topical steroids may have the side effects of occasional nose bleeds and irritation or burning.  But the use of a topical nasal steroid is virtually without any systemic side effects.   Make sure that you are using this spray for either allergic rhinitis or non-allergic rhinitis.  A blocked runny nose can also be symptomatic of nasal polyps.

im taking beconase steriod spray for a nasal infection can i still use sudafed nasal spray at the same time?

Accepted Answer

Yes: Beconase is a topical steroid and as such is not used for an infection but for allergy or non-allergy inflammation.  It has little systemic absorption and there fore you can use sudafed as well.  But sudafed is a tablet and I am not sure it is a nasal spray.  But its mode of action is totally different than Beconase and you can use it.  It sounds like you have nasal allergy so allergy visit next.

hi. i'm on beconase nasal spray for post nasal drip and i feel my cough getin irate me and cough more, is this side effect or what and my chest sore?

Not a side effect: Of beconase (beclomethasone). You may very well  have inflammtion/infection of upper and lower respiratory tract, kindly see your doctor for evaluation and possible prescription medications, wish you well

can i use xlear nasal spray whilst i am using beconase steroid nasal spray . am suffering chronic sinusitis due to concha bullosa :(?

Yes: Beconase (beclomethasone) is an intranasal steroid to suppress the inflammation in your nose and the xlear is likely a decongestant. Are you seeing an ent? If not, you might want to get those concha bullosas removed or at least consider balloon angioplasty. I would also recommend increasing the Beconase (beclomethasone) to 2 sprays to each nostril twice daily for 2 weeks.

Noise induced: will take sometime though, if it doesn't go away on its own , please check again with your doctor, might need a hearing test, meanwhile avoid ear phones, or over noisy places, good luck

As long as needed : Nasal steroids are designed for use daily for people with year round allergies and can be used daily during allergy seasons, if preferred. Studies have shown no significant adverse effects from long term use, other than nasal irritation, dryness , and nosebleeds in some cases. You should see an ENT allergist or general allergist for options if you have severe allergies.

Hoping to clear ear: The nose is connected to the ear through the eustachian tube. Improving nasal function should improve eustachian tube problems hopefully helping to clear the ear. Beclomethasone spray helps to improve the nose and eustachian tube.

Decongest: To try to decongest the mucous membranes in your nose. Your eustachian tube is the tube you pop your ear with. It connects to the back of the nose. So in some cases, reducing inflammation in the nose can help the eustachian tube pop the ear.

im on prednisone 30mg/day for sinusitis. forgot to ask dr. whether i can continue taking acc200, sinutab & beclomethasone nasal spray which were prescribed last week?

also. what should i look out for if infection arises while on prednisone?

Prednisone: Generally beclomethasone spray can be eliminated while on oral prednisone, as well as other meds mentioned. Infection?  Persistent discolored nasal discharge, facial pain. Afrin or similar decongestant may help keep sinus ostia open, saline irrigations help as well. No smoking, no alcohol, no particulate exposure.
