pesto and basil allergy?  has anyone heard of it?

More likely pine nut: I have seen a fair amount of pesto allergy. Yes, life is sometimes unfair. Usually the problem is the nut. Traditionally pesto is made with pine nut. Commercially walnuts, a more common nut allergen, is used. I have also seen garlic and olive oil allergies. If the problem is truly the basil try substituting cilantro or spinach. Both are good. Bueno appetito.

should the allergist have given me an epipen (epinephrine) for my new basil allergy? also, my symptoms came back 3 days after i ate basil. should i be worried?

Likely unrelated: First basil allergy is likely extremely rare. 2nd allergy to food usually occurs within 2 hrs (up to 10 hrs with red meat) and your reaction after 72 hrs is not from basil . Thus I would look for another culprit.  EpiPen (epinephrine) should be available if you have had an anaphylactic reaction regardless of what might have caused it.  If you did not have one, then EpiPen (epinephrine) is not needed .

i suffer from basil migraines, but every now and then i'll get a frontal one?  should i be on preventive medicine?

PREVENTIVE MEDS FOR: Migraines are prescribed to decrease the frequency of migraines. It may be a good thing for you depending on frequency and severity, so talk to your doctor about it please.

Not sure what : Holy basil is? But if you mean the herb, it would be unusual but .. Not impossible  for a reaction to a food to cause a headache. The best thing is to avoid it ...If the headaches continue , see your dr.

Nasal drip: Adding the use of a Netti Pot or nasal rinse bottle can help nasal cold and allergy symptoms. Be sure to use only distilled or boiled water for nasal irrigation to prevent a bacterial or fungal infection from starting.

Basil seeds: Using basil as a spice is safe in pregnancy.  An essential oil is sometimes made from the leaves and seeds -- and this contains a high concentration of the constituent estragole.  Estragole can cause uterine contractions, thus may not be safe in pregnancy unless you're already in labor.  The essential oil probably uses a lot more of these seeds than you ate in your dessert. If concerned, see ob.

is it ok to start taking holy basil for anxiety if i am taking 0.25 mg of xanax (alprazolam) twice a day? i want to stop the xanax (alprazolam) soon.

Rx anxiety: If you wish to start holy basil for anxiety, I'd talk to your doctor about a short tapering schedule for Xanax (alprazolam). You're on a pretty low dose so that should be accomplished fairly easily. However, keep in mind  that using holy basil for more than 6 weeks has no established safety.  Hence, I'd consider L-theanine or Lavella ( oral lavender) for the treatment of chronic, mild anxiety.

they appeared several days later. they can be easily be scraped off with a fingernail when still a single single head, but once it is a cluster it it can't. often other growths will appear in the same area. they are not squamous or basil cell?
