Depends: If the cyst is not changing in size, and not causing any pain, they can be left alone.  Some people have trouble with them becoming infected, or growing.  In rare cases, there have been reports of small cancers in the gland hidden by the cyst, so if it is changing in size, it needs to be removed.

Highly Variable: Bartholin Gland cysts tend to come and go.  Sometimes they get large and have to b drained.  In rare cases surgery is needed to remove the entire gland.  Try soaking the area in hotish water several times a day and see if that helps.  If not, you need to see a gyn.  Best wishes!
