Accepted Answer

I think not: The "ballerina foot" pattern IS a heart wall motion abnormality associated with pronounced mitral valve prolapse. Vigorous early contraction of the middle part of the left ventricle is coupled with a bulge in the anterior heart wall. This abnormal heart wall motion looks like a ballerina slipper heel on imaging/echocardiography.

It would be: necessary to review the ECHO itself to answer this question. You should be able to ask your health care provider to go over the results with you since he/she will have the report in your file.

The heart does go: through some changes associated with pregnancy that might enhance the presence of MVP and some of this may remodel after delivery. Regardless, in the absence of significant regurgitation it is of limited clinical relevance.

There is no good: way to predict the progression of your MVP. The fact that you also may have aortic valve involvement would suggest on clinical grounds that you might be at more risk for progression than others but again there is no way to predict this with certainty. This is not a cardiomyopathy.

Needs evaluation: 1st thing is that your toddler needs to be evaluated to see if there is a medical reason he walks on toes such as short achilles tendon or equinus.
If not then exercises may be needed.
