for my 7 yrs boy, sticky dry hair falling found on crown of head getting bald past 5 months and it extends its area mostly downwards back of head, it is by hair problem or any internal and who to seek medical help ?

Alopecia vs fungus: Child probably is developing alopecia. It would be important also to rule out a fungal infection of the scalp. Best would be to see a dermatologist who can do a Woods light examination and a KOH prep and tell you the diagnosis and treatment right away. If it is Alopecia he will also be able to guide you properly and reassure you. If required further work up can also be initiated.

4 y/o with bald spot on back of head. scalp seems normal no itching at all but getting bigger.  causes?  pediatrician or dermatology visit in order?

Bald spot: Many possible causes including simply being on his/her back too much. I would advise seeing  the baby's pediatrician first, they should be able to determine the cause and generally you should be able to see your pediatrician a lot sooner than a dermatologist. Good luck

I : I think that would be a good idea.  At the very least, he or she may have better pain relievers for you to try.  On the other hand, it's conceivable that there's more going on than a regular headache (something like meningitis) and that your doctor will be able to identify the problem and start treating it.

Pain head and neck: Sound musculosketal related to bad posture or strenuous activity. You can observe iif no weakness or numbness on half side of body or bladder dysfunctions. If masages help then most likely related to muscle pain.

Scalp hair loss : If patchy, see a dermatologist. If generally thinned hair, get your hormone levels checked. Can also occur due to severe stress and rarely some medications.

Alopecia: You most likely have a scalp condition called alopecia areata which is an autoimmune disorder. Treatment is kenalog (triamcinolone) injections into the circular areas of hair loss.

It may be a cyst: in the skin of your scalp. If you have a mass there got checked out by your primary doctor, it could be as simple as a skin cyst that can be quickly removed.

The : The six main causes of patchy hair loss in an otherwise healthy child are:
1.) tinea capitus - which is ringworm on the scalp.  It looks like scaly patched of hairloss, sometimes with black dots on the scalp.  It's caused by a fungal infection and is treated by an oral anti-fungal medication called griseofulvin.
2.) alopecia areata - which is an area of hair loss thought to be caused by an immune reaction.  The body mistakenly takes a hair follicle as a foreign object and fights it causing loss of hair in that area.  5% of people with this will progress to alopecia totalis which is loss of all the hair on the scalp.  There is no cure, but treatment with steroids can help.
3.) trichotillomania  - which is caused by picking or pulling the hair out in a specific area.  It is usually caused by stress and improves with counseling.
4.) vitamin deficiency - less common since most kids in the us have a balanced diet.  Zinc, biotin and iron deficiency can cause hair loss - more likely overall than patchy.
5.) telogen effluvium - a stressor such as a high fever, surgery, death of a loved one, or other stress can cause an interruption of the hair cycle and shedding all at once.  Once the stressor goes away, the hair usually grows back normally.
6.) endocrine problems - such as low thyroid hormone which can cause thinning hair.

You should contact your child's doctor and have her examined.  Her doctor may be able to diagnose why she is losing her hair and how to treat it.

my 11 week old daughter has a swelling on the back of her head, she has a bald patch where she lies but instead of it being flat its bulging?

Hairless patch: If it doesn't hurt her, and isn't red or irritated, then it probably isn't anything to be worried about. Kids turn their heads to track things all the time and they tend to lose hair in that are due to friction. It always comes black.

Random baldness: If you are sexually active and the patches are only partially bald, get tested for syphilis. If the patches are completely bald without scarring or inflammation, it may be an autoimmune condition known as alopecia areata. Underactive thyroid gland causes hair loss, but usually not in patches. Fungal infections (tinea capitis) can cause hair loss in patches with inflammation and/or scarring.
