my child has a cold, how long until they can go back to school?

Depends: If a child has a fever, they should be home 24 hours untreated with no fever before going back to school! otherwise, if they are acting normally, eating fairly well, and sleeping at night and are pretty good with using their "secret space, " the inside of the elbow for coughing or sneezing into, and hand washing then they should be ok to be at school,  i doubt they were the first case anyway.

Sleep cycles: It often happens when our primary work changes that we are assigned different shifts (including the "graveyard" shift) or our duties require a change in working hours. The best approach, if you know such a change is coming, is to start moving your sleep times by small amounts (say, 1/2 hour earlier) for several days, and then keep advancing to your close to your assigned shift time.

Depends on activity: If you have adipose tissue that you can lose (not everyone does) then an increase in cardio and a balanced diet would be a good place to start. However, do not always do the same exercise or you will increase your risks for stress injuries. Mix things up with running, biking, swimming, or circuit training. Ultimately you need to burn more than you consume (whatever this # may be).

I don't blame you: Sports do very little to advance most people's actual life goals. Your question is, "how do I humor my family / peers?" choose some other sport, or decide you want to be a solo endurance athlete, or announce you want to devote your time to your academic studies / future career (best choice!) or take up an instrument. Have it checked out: Not knowing what this rash is, i can't say you should cover the rash.  I can say that you should have your doctor look at it to make sure you don't have an infection or something that could be contagious and need to be treated. If it's a skin reaction to something, you might still need treatment.

There are OTC: sleep aids available, including Melatonin and Zquil, among other options. Speak to a pharmacist at the local pharmacy to show them to you. Don't drink caffeine or watch TV! Best of luck!

Hello again: Your location is unknown, so it's hard to guess what support services might exist near you, but here are some generic ideas: be creative in problem-solving first step probes (use that "over-qual" mind) - volunteer, network, ask help of any brand clergy, ask city hall (local gov't), an appealing ad in local paper or on local radio, get the idea? Treatment for Mononucleosis is mainly supportive, meaning plenty of fluids and rest until your immune system isolates it. Spleen enlargement is an uncommon but serious possibility.  EBV is a lifelong infection, but usually remains silent.
