Back: Have you seen a back specialist. If you have been having symptoms for a year and failed physical therapy you should see and orthopedist or neurlogist.

hello, having lower back pain, especially when i'm laying down.  had physical therapy for 8 weeks.  no relief, almost feels worse.   wondering if i should see a physiatrist or an orthopedic surgeon??  thanks!!

See surgeon last: It is almost always preferable to see a non-surgeon, such as a neurologist before seeing an orthopedic or neurosurgeon. At Mayo Clinic, no sees a surgeon of any sub specialty before seeing a surgeon. This is the best way to get the most accurate diagnosis and least likely to have unnecessary surgery.

had lower back pain since 2018, i have done mri's, physical therapy, emg, etc. all normal. ana was tested to rule out lupus, the ratio came back borderline, ~6 months later with the worse pain, my test is negative. why? could it still be autoimmune?

Days to Weeks: Physical therapy is helping the muscles loosen and strengthen around the spine and nerves to help with pain.  It can take up to several weeks to get significant relief.

Very: I like aquatic therapy for my patients with back pain because it allows them to get in the water and exercise while diminishing their own body weight and it's effect on the spine.

Am assuming that: the back pain has already been medically worked up. Another option you might consider is medical acupuncture.

Very likely....: Most adults will have back pain at some point in their lifetime.  Common causes are musculoskeletal, strains, sprains, etc.  In the absence of any neurological issues (ie. Muscle weakness) initial treatment includes: nsaid's (like ibuprofen), activity modification, stretching, and physical therapy.  See your pcp for a prescription.....

Yoga: There are many reasons and solutions for lower back pain, which is an extremely common complaint.  The main problem often stems from weak trunk muscles.  The muscles of the trunk support the structures of the back, therefore, strengthen the trunk and the back is better supported.  Try yoga, try abdominal exercises, or simply go for brisk walks with good posture.

i've had two c-sections and i have had extreme upper back pain and random spasms all over my back.  physical therapy and meds don't work. any tips?

See your doctor: Problems like these can only be correctly handled by your doctor in person.  He/she needs to listen to you, perform an examination and possibly run labs or other tests. That's the only way he/she can find out what's going on and what to do about it.

my back pain does not have anything to do with my spine, but is muscle related only. i have had it for 1.5 years and it will not go away. is there a way i can ever heal this? i have done physical therapy, but it has not really helped. thank you?
