Disc issues: Just because you have disc issues does not mean that you have to have symptoms. If you do have symptoms they can be continuous, intermittent or rare.

Most commonly: What you are describing is a lumbar paraspinal or iliopsoas strain or spasm at your age. However, there are many other things that can cause this that should be checked by a physician, including but not limited to si joint pain, facet pain, and even discogenic pain that has not infringed on a nerve root yet.  If it is a paraspinal spasm, then it should continuously get better each day, keep walking.

Back Pain: Pain on breathing can be a sign of pleural pain, which could accompany a cold. If a very sharp pain, you could have ruptured a small air sac. But don't worry, these usually heal spontaneously. If your breathing gets harder and/ or you develop a fever, call your doctor immediately; otherwise, the pain should subside on its own.

However, the pain could potentially be coming from the spine itself including pain from your discs, facet joints, and/or vertebra. The good news is that the vast majority of back pain is usually benign and self-limiting.

Interesting Question: Intraosseous Hemangioma are found many times in the spine.  The likelihood they are causing pain is very unlikely however there are some documented cases of this in both Europe and USA.  Usually these are treated with vertebroplasty/kyphoplasty where bone cement is added to the bone.  This is quite extreme and many times insurance does not cover this treatment if its not cancer related.

Need evaluation : Back pain could be multifactorial in origin , most of the imo benign in nature . An evaluation by physician is recommended i make a plan of treatment.

Spine Pain Options: This chronic pain in the distribution as you suggested is the result of an irritated nerve or facet joints or other injury typically in the lumbar spine (low back) which are caused by herniated disks, spinal stenosis or degenerative disc disease,  etc requiring further evaluation by a spine specialist and may be candidate for facet injections/radiofrequency ablation and epidural steroid injection.

Numerous: There are numerous reasons for back pain, discs, degenerative changes of the spine, etc.  People take for granted just how many muscles, ligaments and structures can 'go wrong'.  I'd start with an MRI of the back.
