severe neck, shoulder, and upper back pain after d&c surgery yesterday. had general anesthesia. what can i do for pain relief. feel stiff as a board!

Ask your doctor.: Most of the time, anti inflammatory medications like Ibuprofen are ok after surgery, as long as your aren't bleeding much. Ask your doctor.  Otherwise, Acetaminophen (parecetamol, tylenol) 1000 mg 2-3 times a day for a few days can help and are usually safe after surgery. Warm packs, and getting up and moving around as much as you can may help.

Heat to area: is ok, just don't burn yourself. Stretches can help as well. Soaking in warm tub can help.

Below: Could be as simple as muscle pain and just need some physical therapy.  With that history though, you'd want to be fully evaluated by a spine specialist (physiatry or anesthesia pain management, or an orthopedic spine surgeon or neurosurgeon).

Make sure you take you MRI images to the first visit.

Doubt cervical disks: If the cervical disks are not causing a radiating pain, numbness, tingling or weakness, they may not be the cause of upper back pain.  Congenital kyphosis is more likely.  Physical therapy and a trans cutaneous nerve stimulator might be of help.  Imaging of the thoracic spine may shed further light on the problem.

xray revealed loss of lordosis in cervical spine, symptoms are severe sudden neck pain/headache, numbness in right arm (elbow to pinky), regular upper back pain for years.  what can i do to correct lordosis and relieve neck/back pain?

Could be a problem: with chronic acid reflux into your esophagus causing some scarring at the distal end or actual narrowing of your esophagus (esophageal stricture) trapping food stuff from coming down smoothly.  The reaction of dizziness, with chest and back pain is called a vasovagal response and is caused by your esophagus spasming trying to get the food to go down.  You should see a gastroenterologist (GI) ASAP.

An important first step is to obtain a comprehensive work-up/consultation for your neck and back pain.  Your internist or family doctor is usually the best place to start.  Once a diagnosis is made then options will become available.

Pain: Without knowing any more about your history i would suggest a progressive exercise program.  Posture is important.  Range of motion should be optimized and the supportive muscles should be strengthened. If not significantly better in 6 weeks would recommend that it is evaluated by a physician.

Depends: Chronic back and neck pain may benefit or worsen with exercise depending on the cause of the pain and the type and intensity of the exercise.
