could i die if i get the lipoma from my back removed?

Very unlikely!: There is more than a 99% chance you won't die from having the lipoma removed. This is a small operation just under the skin, and your doctor will likely use a local anesthetic. Why are you having it removed? I would like to say 100% you won't die, but i can't predict everything. Any surgery has risk. (the ceiling could collapse while you're in the office.) but i predict you'll be ok!

Usually Very Little: Depending upon the size and location(superficial v. Next to muscle), lipomas can be removed under local, twilight, or general anesthesia.  Post operatively, there is usually very little pain and no restrictions.

If painful,see MD: Ideally lipomas should not be painful, and thus if you are experiencing pain, you should see a Spine Specialist so that they can thoroughly evaluate the location, symptoms and determine next steps.

No: A lipoma per say isn't reason to be worried.
This is a benign ie non-malignant growth. You can get more, especially if the one you have is incompletely excised. This is not a lymphoma. Any concerns see a general surgeon to decide if a bx needs to be done.

i have a posttraumatic lipoma located on my  back that i would like to have removed. how do i go about this?  would lipo work?

Lipomas: Lipomas are usually removed with simple excision.  That means we cut it out.  Depending on the size, this can be done with local anesthesia or local and sedation.  This is usually an outpatient procedure.  In some cases the lipoma can come back.  This will require a final surgery to remove the remnant that recurred.  Usually that is the final surgery.

i have two lipomas in my lower back one at right and one at left, they are painful plus i feel pain in my ribss too recently, what should i do ?

Lipomas: Are benign fatty lesions sometimes confused with sebaceous cysts.  Generally there is no harm with doing nothing.  If they are recurrently inflamed and or causing pain one can have them excised.   This can be done by either a primary care physician or surgeon.  If they are large, i would lean toward having a surgeon excise them.

how common is it for a lipoma on your back to cause a lot of pain that wraps around and palpable size difference between l and r side of your back?

If the lipoma is: Large, increasing in size and causes considerable pain, consider seeing a surgeon for surgical removal. Take care!

i have a lipoma on my back. it's not bothering me but i love having massages on my back. is it harmful if it is massaged? will it risk it to growing?

No damage: While lipomas are the most common benign soft tissue lesions, the occasional one found to grow to  about 10 cm. should be removed for potential  malignant transformation.  Those that are multiple in many patients do not develop   complications when encountering  minor trauma such as massage to an area they are present in.  If pain would ensue then the massage would be discontinued.

i have been told i have a lipoma on my back rib at the time was soft since then has gotten bigger, painful and hard is this due to being on top of rib?

Sebaceous cyst?: Could be a sebaceous cyst.

Seek out a dermatologist in your area.  These can be removed in the office with just local anesthetic (numbing medicine).
