Not a fever: 98.7 is a normal body temperature.  It is still possible to have a viral infection causing your other symptoms even without a fever.  Take some NSAIDs, drink plenty of fluids - maybe some tea with honey in it, and see how you feel in the morning.  Viral infections usually last 5-7 days.

Poss. Strep throat: Strep throat can be diagnosed easily and treated with an antibiotic at your doctor's office or a nearby urgent care center. If the test is negative you probably have a virus like EBV, commonly known as Mono, fir which no specific treatment is required besides monitoring and symptomatic relief with ITC meds fir fever and pain.

COVID 19: Rest, hydration, acetaminophen, decongestant, cough med &amp; nasal saline irrigation may help mild symptoms. Make sure to quarantine. Get emergency care for difficulty breathing, blue lips or face or new-onset of confusion.

COVID exposure : You are currently 12 days after a possible exposure to the COVID virus. Also it sounds like your symptoms have markedly improved. However, with family coming it would be helpful information to know that your COVID antigen test was negative. Most likely if you did have the virus, you have mounted a response that would make you not contagious, especially if your test is negative.

Strep throat: can be associated with kidney disease, though it usually happens after the throat infection is over. It could just be a coincidence.   If you have any blood in your urine or it looks darker than normal, or if you have fever, chills, or any urinary symptoms, you should be evaluated and treated by a clinic, probably with antibiotics.
