C.diff: C.Diff is a terrible infection and can make you feel miserable. If you were feverish but the antibiotics worked on killing c.Diff your fever may break plummeting abruptly to below normal levels.

ive been experiencing heart palpitations and headaches when going to sleep and its not making me sleep, its stressing me out. i used to have them before but it stoped for a year and now its back. i also get cold and shiver. im 19 years old?

: It is not feasible to provide an opinion without additional history, physical examination may be some tests. It would be prudent to see your doctor to see if you may be depressed. Depression is treatable. Counter-intuitive as it may seem, exercise may help. Start with low intensity exercise such as walking and gradually increase the intensity as tolerated. Drink more water. Wish you good health!

my 3 yr old has a fever of 100.8. she has done nothing but sleep. she doesn't have any cold or flu symptoms. what do i do? she has been shivering. i've been giving her tylenol (acetaminophen).

Fevers : Fevers for the most part aren't dangerous and are just the body's natural reaction to fighting off an infection. Most of these infections are viral and may be accompanied by runny nose, sore throat, congestion, mild rash, or nothing at all. Since fevers aren't dangerous, we usually treat the fever with Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen just to make the child more comfortable as their body fights the illness.  You can also give them a luke-warm water bath to make them more comfortable and make sure they stay hydrated.

"red flags" that we look for with fever to indicate something more serious is going on are: 
-fevers that last 5 days or more 
-fevers persistently above 104f orally 
-a child that acts very sick - very irritable or difficult to wake 
-difficulty breathing 
-vomiting, diarrhea, refusal to drink, or dehydration 
-a purple rash, esp on the legs 
-stiff neck 
-any complaints of pain such as the ear, throat, stomach or a joint

as always, use your judgement. If you think that your child is ill, err on the side of caution and call your child's doctor.

my son twitches and jerked a lot in his sleep. lately he has been shaking after waking up. not violently but more than a cold shiver. last time it happened his eyes rolled up. only lasted bout 15s. then back to sleep. should i get a neurologist ap?

: Not feasible to pinpoint etiology  of your observations, but might consider sleep disorders and even nocturnal seizures.  Do let your pediatrician know of your concerns.  A EEG study might confirm or disconfirm diagnoses.

i have been waking up out of a deep sleep shivering, very cold, teeth chattering. all my blood work is ok, endo doc says not januvia, any clues?

Uhoh: It is entirely possible that there is some abnormality of the autonomic system. This happens in diabetes. The most common is digestion problems, then blood pressure, then other autonomic processes. One would expect the temperature to vary a lot during the day. Also one would expect dizziness and problems with blood pressure regulation also.

On their back: Sleeping on the back with the head slightly elevated. You can use a folded towel underneath the head end of the mattress (not directly under the baby's head like a pillow.).

epigastric pain has been waking me up at night. throbbing pain, gives me cold chills. lasts for hours. i sleep almost upright, gerd. what could it be?

Possible ulcer: From your description, the pain is pretty severe, and it could be sign of an ulcer.  I would follow GERD precautions (I.e. avoid food 3hrs before sleep, avoid tight clothing, chocolates, mints, alcohol, and NSAIDs.) AND see your Dr as soon as possible.  After further history and exam you may still require an endoscopic exam to confirm the diagnosis. Get well soon!

had cold,nasal drip, sneezing, chills, sinus pain. mostly gone.  woke in night 3 days ago. aggresive sore cough. lasted 10 mins if that.took antacid,went to bed. fine sleep. ear and throat pain has developed since then. chills again off and on?
