Maybe more: 3 "conditions" maybe causing the problem.  The first is allergies: it's been a tough allergy season.  The best treatment is allergy meds, both topical and pills.  The next is blepharitis- a chronic eyelid infection.  Lid scrubs help but sometimes antibiotics are needed. A doctor needs to look to this rule out as rosacea, a disease can also make this worse.  It could be an infection.  Go to an md!

May not be heat rash: You should have the baby examined by a pediatrician. This may not be heat rash but eczema or impetigo.

Baby: Could be atopic dermatitis. Try otc Hydrocortisone for a week. If not better, see your doctor.

Infants swollen Eye: Depending on the age of the infant...This can be worrisome( for newborns until perhaps 6 months) due to the types of infections, etc.

usually this is an easy thing to remedy...But get it checked out by either your local primary care doc (fp or pediatrician) or a local eye doc.

Take her to your doc: Don't fool around with your new born's eye. Take her to your pediatrician, or eye doctor.

Pediatrician: Take your baby to your pediatrician first for an evaluation.  Your description may indicate an infection of the eyelid.  This could follow a upper respiratory tract infection, ear infection, &amp; possibly a sinus infection. The eyelid may swell if there is excessive tearing, mattering, rubbing, and of course, from infections.  A pediatrician can determine whether your child needs to see an Eye MD too

Stye treatment: Try a warm compress and then massage the eyelid.  If the stye does not reduce in size over the next 3-4 days of using warm compresses and massage, see an ophthalmologist to have the stye opened and drained.
