RECTAL BLEEDING: Rectal bleeding among the very young can be anal fissure, polyp, meckels diverticulum or infectious colitis. If persistent, get a GI spicialist. There are other causes not mentioned depending on examination.

Goat's milk has many: Of the same proteins as cow's milk, so babies can develop an allergy to it. Goat's milk has 1/5th as much vitamin B12 & 1/10th as much Folic Acid as cow's milk. There's 1 mcg of folic acid/8 oz.Of goat's milk. Babies need 75 -100 mcg daily. Some commercial brands of goat's milk formulas add extra folic acid. See your pediatrician for supplements or change of formula  & evaluation of the bleeding.

Your blood: The most likely thing is that it is your blood that he is consuming while breast feeding. If you have any soreness, cracking or irritation of your nipples, they can bleed while he is nursing and he can actually swallow a significant amount of blood from this. If he is thriving, not vomiting, and his poo is just colored, i'd look to you first.

Period: If you had a baby one month ago then this is probably your first period. The first period usually comes 4-8 weeks after delivery and is usually unusual.

hi, i've been on depo-provera on and off for 15 years. i had my last baby in 09 and have been on it since. today have mucus blood discharge. is this normal?

One of the: Side effects of Depo Provera (medroxyprogesterone) is irregular or unscheduled bleeding. If the problem persists and interferes with your daily activities, consult your doctor. Good luck.

Evaluation: The baby may have an infection of the GI tract, please see your pediatrician. Monitor for any rectal temperature of 100. 4 or higher and if this occurs, additional testing will be performed in the Emergency room. Continue to feed as usual, monitor temperature and please see your pediatrician. A KUB imaging study may be ordered by your PCP.

You can have irregular bleeding and spotting and even skip periods. Don't forget that you can still conceive.

Early labor: From your question, my understanding is that you are having steady contractions. If this is the case and you are 35wks this is premature. You should contact your OB ASAP. If they are not persistent and are not more than 40secs, this my be prodromal or Braxton hicks and oral fluids will help. Either way you should contact your doctor.
