i keep testng pos for wbcs on azo test strips even after two days of cipro (ciprofloxacin). (neg for nitrites). no pain &no urine odor. could this be smthng serious?

Doubt UTI. STD?: Without pain, urgency, or frequency, and with negative nitrites and non-response to ciprofloxacin, probably not a urinary tract infection. Maybe WBC test (leukocyte esterase) isn't working right. Or not clean urine (vaginal WBC?). Yeast? Depending on your risk for STD, it could be gonorrhea, chlamydia, trichomonas, yeast. Or something else entirely. Best to stop cipro and contact your doctor.

UTI is more likely: Gonorrhea or chlamydia can mimic some UTI symptoms, but usually this would be burning on urination; urgency alone is more likely bladder inflammation due to UTI, especially for &quot;a few weeks&quot; and with positive nitrite and WBC. See a doctor soon: you need a formal urinalysis, probably a urine culture, STD testing since it&#x27;s on your mind, and probably an antibiotic prescription.

Don't think so: What was your test positive for?  Azo is both a commonly used name for a medication used to reduce pain of urinary tract infection, and which also can turn urine orange and stain things, and the name of a company that makes several products. Methadone programs are required to do confirmatory tests for positive screens, and you should ask for that, if you haven't used other drugs.

Urinary test WBCs: You probably have some trace leukocytes there but what you observe is the test strip "keeps reacting" after the 2 min mark, so it looks "more positive" than it is. Best to follow the test instructions exactly. White blood cells (WBCs) could indicate a urinary tract infection so you should probably see a doctor about it.

Urine: as the nitrite is negative you do not have an infection one can see white cells from the skin that get into the urine which can show up positive you do not need to see anybody at this time but if you develop increased frequency, burning on urination or flank pain please see your primary care
